A standardized installation process not only reduces the risk of early failures but also avoids chain reactions of damage caused by improper assembly. Preparatory work before installation is the first step in ensuring quality. The model, specifications, and mating parts of the drive wheel should be checked against the equipment's technical documents to confirm that their dimensional accuracy and tolerances match those of the mating parts with the shaft, bearing housing, etc. Cleaning must be thorough, removing oil, rust, and impurities from the journals, hub bores, and mating surfaces. If necessary, use a special cleaning agent and non-woven cloth to wipe the surfaces, ensuring a clean contact surface. Inspect all fasteners, especially bolts and locating pins, for dimensions and integrity, and pre-check tool calibration according to the recommended torque values.

The formal installation process should follow the principles of phased implementation and controlled stress. For interference-fit drive wheels, a press or thermal expansion method is recommended. Direct hammering is strictly prohibited to avoid micro-cracks or alterations in internal stress distribution. During assembly, the shaft centers should be aligned. Guide sleeves or positioning fixtures can be used to assist in ensuring the coaxiality and perpendicularity of the drive wheel and shaft meet standards. After installation, tighten the fixing bolts evenly in the prescribed sequence and cross-tightening method, gradually increasing to the rated torque. Recheck the tightness after assembly.

Post-installation verification is essential. Manually rotate the drive wheel to check for smooth operation, any obstruction, or abnormal noise, and check if the axial and radial clearances are within allowable ranges. If necessary, use a dial indicator to measure runout to ensure dynamic balance and transmission accuracy requirements are met. If the equipment involves a multi-wheel drive system, verify the consistency of phase and power distribution between each drive wheel to prevent uneven load due to relative position deviations.

Drive wheel installation is not simply mechanical assembly; it is a systems engineering project involving precise fit and mechanical balance. Strict adherence to standardized procedures for preparation, assembly, and verification, coupled with professional training for operators and process documentation, is essential to ensure reliable connection and long-term operation, providing a solid foundation for optimal overall machine performance.
